About This Image

This was taken on a rafting trip down the Green River through Gray and Desolation Canyon. I’m going to say this was taken at least 40 years ago maybe longer.. It’s an Agfacrome. It was scanned on a Nikon LS4000 scanner using vue scan And processed with Topaz photo.

Hi David,
First off, that is a wonderful view along with some wild and warm toned color. The trip had to be a blast to complete. IMO you have too much dark empty space in the FG. I am thinking a crop; and making this more of a pano; to remove some of that enhance that amazing color even more. I hope you do not mind, but here is a rework with what I was thinking. Just my opinion of course.

@Ed_Lowe

Thanks for the comment. I like your rework.
Always like this picture, but it is a 35 mm slide and the only way I’ve ever been able to look at. It has been on a projector until recently when I got my scanner up and running. I appreciate your effort.

Wow, 40 years ago!

That’s beautiful light, and the reflection of it makes the image special. The composition, with the two slopes funneling the eye to the far bluff, is spot on, and I think the heavy vignette below works well here.

It’s likely a limitation of the original, but the image seems a bit soft to me. Here’s a go with adding just a little sharpness.
