Dragonflies laying eggs

Saw these Common Green Darners laying eggs in a pond at the local Audubon center one March.

Here’s another take on the same action. Did some cloning in the BG on this one.

GHi Allen,

Very nice look at these two-good detail and IQ as well. I see advantages to both comps, but I think I prefer the first over the second. While you have a light background element behind the wing on the left most dragon that you cloned on the second take, I think you see more details in the wing on that comp and the green reed isn’t visible as it is in the second comp-which draws my eye out out the frame. Nice work on the capture and with your edits.

Wow, wonderful capture with excellent detail in the dragonflies, Allen. I like that I can see the tail under water better in the second shot, but agree with Charles on the reed in the second shot pulling my eye out of the frame. I would be thrilled with either shot!

A tough call, Allen. I 'd be pretty happy with either one, but I think I prefer the second simply because it shows what’s happening a little better.
