Dry Wash

In this Death Valley image, this wash was in the shade. The volcanic rock was picking up the blue overhead and I chose to leave it there. One friend thought the rock was flowers…

Harley, an excellent view from this vantage point. Me being a connoisseur of desert dry washes this area of DVNP has some of the best photographically. The scene leaves us with that thought of wanting to take the path toward the BG just to see what is there… :+1::sunglasses:

Harley,

Wonderful job isolating this scene with the longer focal length. Comp is excellent of course with the lead-in of the wash and even more compelling because of the distinct difference between the light colored and blue-flavored darker wash bed up top. I think the processing is excellent and appreciate the constraint of the warmer formations.

All around excellent capture from DV. I know @Paul_Breitkreuz will appreciate this, but this elevated scene makes me think of some of the spaghetti westerns with Clint Eastwood running his horse through the desert hills of Spain…

The diagonal line and colour contrast work well for me in this scene. The blue pops against the yellowish bad lands.

I like your use of a telephoto to extract this scene from the overall landscape. Is this the same wash as as your previous post with the colorful sunrise? I like having the two washes meet at a T intersection like this, it becomes more interesting, and encourages your eye to wander a bit more here. My only nit would be to clone away the small pock mark in the LLC, it is a minor distraction. But overall I like this image a lot.

Harley, this works well, with it’s broad mix of subtle colors, fine leading line and excellent series of ridges. The lighting is quite the change from your previous post of this area.

Nice isolation of the badlands. The choice of framing works well with the wash providing I nice had-in as does the mix of cool and warm colors. Processing looks good.
