Eagle encounter and cloudy repost

The original name for this image was Eagles playing. I now realize they weren’t really playing but fighting. It was probably shot on a Nikon D500 with a 200 500 telephoto . No fancy software.

Description

I am very fortunate to live on Puget Sound, Henderson Inlet. We have quite a bit of wildlife in the area including bald eagles. I believe this is a adult and a juvenile. This is taken into 2014 so at that time we didn’t have a whole lot of tools that we have now. This is original, although I don’t have the raw file anymore or at least I can’t locate it. But I think what’s hiding on all the bad hard drives I have lying around the house (those that have failed one way or another) I wonder what I have lost.

Great image, David. Too bad you can’t find the raw file. I’m sure you could reprocess this into something even more awesome. I don’t think either of these is a juvenile, since it takes at least 4 years to get that much white on the head and tail.

Hi David
This is a great photograph, if only there were a cloud, tree, or lake in the background. I think the lower Eagle is juvenile, there are gray feathers in the wings, and the head is not completely white.

What a cool action moment. Could it add to the drama to drag one a little closer to the other, and recrop accordingly. I guess it wouldn’t be completely honest to the actual scene but, if it were mine, I would take a look at that. It’d be dead-easy to do, too. Super shot.

Wonderful sharpness and detail, and a fantastic moment! No nits! Sometimes old image stand up well. Large drives were not as common back in the day and organization and backing up have come a long way.

I have never done this before but some one suggested some clouds so I overdid it

Love the interaction captured here. Fine sharpness on the birds too. I like the original image as the action fully holds my attention.
