The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
With our current stretch of cold weather the birds are constantly at our feeders. They then often go to my water feature to get a drink. In this case, it’s an Eastern Bluebird who has found a small hole in the ice to drink from. Taken from a photoblind.
Specific Feedback
While I would like for the birds to be closer (this is about 20 feet away), there’s liquid water available, so this is cropped much more than I like.
Technical Details
R5, 100-500 @ 500, 1/200 s, f/9, iso 800 tripod.

This looks like it held up to your crop quite nicely, Mark, though if there’s not too much ugly stuff around the bird, I could see a looser crop. She’s going to bump her head when she straightens up. I like the natural looking drinking system your pond system creates. Are you keeping a pump running in the winter?
Neat idea for an environment! It held up very well to the crop. I don’t remember if you use TCs but I don’t see any significant sharpness degradation with them – only some very slight “flare” or haloing of bright whites. Maybe some internal surfaces are not clean enough?
On cold mornings our birdbath freezes over and the birds are very perplexed. I saw one (forget which kind) stomping around on it – trying to break the ice???
Mark, I like this image as is. But I also like what @Diane_Miller and @Sandy_Richards-Brown have done with Generative-Fill. I like how they are both the same yet different. I also like the soft lighting.
I have to say, I like Diane’s a little more. It looks cleaner in the RT. conner, more like ice than snow. All 3 are really nice images.
Another good example of a 100-500 lens. Taking notes.
THANKS
Hi Mark, nice details in the soft light and the ice makes for an interesting composition. The reposts using Generative Fill on the lower right offer an interesting alternative if you are so inclined. I think the other aspects of the image are complimentary.
I like this as presented, Mark. The mossy rocks on either side suggests the bird is drinking from. a stream. Good color and detail in the bird and the leaf adds some color and balance. I could also see a bit more room on top.
