Eastern Sierra Fall color 2021

It’s getting to be close to that time. Please post any updates or links concerning fall color in the Eastern Sierra.

It’s just starting: https://www.californiafallcolor.com/2021/09/16/just-starting/g:

Thanks, Tony. With the continuing drought, it will interesting to see if the leaves go from green to brown.

Yes, last year in upper Bishop Creek (south fork) there were areas of beautiful yellow/orange aspens right next to brown areas . It’s a new ballgame.

I was desperate to get out and do some photography. I watched Purple Air for air quality in Bishop for a week, and after it was green (good) for four days in a row I decided to go and stayed in Bishop. Then the smoke from the Sequoia fire decided to blow into the area again and the entire area from Big Pine to Lee Vining was socked in with thick smoke. In Bishop you couldn’t even see Mt. Tom. Photography was impossible. It stayed that way for four days. The color in upper Bishop creek was good (not fabulous, but good), and the color was beginning to change in the June Lake loop and looked like it would be good as well in a week or so. So, the color is good but the air quality is a crap shoot.
