Eastern Sierra Fall Color

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I cut my teeth with photography in the Eastern Sierra while living in Bishop from 1980-1984. This is one of my favorite shots…I have photographed it many times over the years. It was bittersweet this time, the color was beautiful, as you can see, but the spectre of global warming hung in the air. It was 99 degrees in Bishop on this day in October. Obviously cooler here at high elevation, but it was still hot and did not feel right. Nothing except the color felt like autumn. The color looked like autumn, but the air, sky, clouds and everything else about it felt hot, like summer in August. Oh well, things change. Still beautiful!

Hi Tony, Quite a beautiful image you have shared with us. Things do seem well out of wack, we just had our first frost in the northeast. Well seen and processed.

Tony,

Great composition. I am itching to get to the East Side this year. I think I should probably go soon. It is interesting how the trees just know when to turn color, even if the temperatures say otherwise. Its probably due to the reduced light as autumn season roles in. But, as you know, one cold snap to soon in the season and the color all goes brown. So maybe the warm temperatures will keep the color around longer, at least I hope until I can get out there.
