Eastern Yellow Robin

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I traipsed through the rainforest for what seemed like hours and hardly noticed a bird. Smoko was calling so I sat down to lighten my backpack of anything edible. This little yellow flash zoomed around quite close but always landing on an ugly branch. Full disclosure; I found a nice branch and wedged it in the ground close to where I was sitting. Lucky me!

Great job taking advantage of the situation and getting this image, Glennie. While the out of focus tail is sometimes frowned upon, in this case I like it because it helps show the full coloration of the bird.

The Brits were sure fond of the word Robin. They plastered it on birds all over the world. Sometime I’ll have to look at the etymology and see if there’s some sensible reason for it.

Great job getting the focus where it needs to be and picking a very nice perch for this beauty.

Good job in taking advantage of your location and situation and lucky to get the bird to cooperate. Good pose with great detail and color. Nice background. Well done.

LOL! Good for you for offering the bird a co-operative perch, and an interesting one too! Great pose and true colours - not a nit from me! Just excellent -

Thank you @Dennis_Plank , @Allen_Brooks , @SandyR-B !

@Dennis_Plank . You sure are correct with the Brits fondness of the word Robin. I think the only thing that links robins is their appearance and habitat. Interestingly, our Aussie robins are not closely related to European or American robins.

LOL, Glennie, you need to hang on to that magic stick! What a friendly pose.

Hi Glennie,
Terrific image - love the pose, the wonderful colors on the bird, and pleasing BG. Nice stick too. Well done.

Ha! @Mike_Friel . I brought the stick home and water it every day. It will make a fine perch for my home birds.
