Description

Mute Swan
Bolsa Chica Refuge, Huntington Beach, CA

We’re in Southern California, then Arizona for a couple weeks. We had a chance to get out to Bolsa Chica for the first time in several years and this lovely swan was floating around with - I presume - a mate. I’ve never seen mute swans here, so it would be great if these two started a small flock.
The Mute Swan (Cygnus olor) is not native to North America. It’s a Eurasian species that has been introduced and now breeds in the wild in some areas. I’ve seen them on both coasts.

Hi Sandy, I like the pose of the swan with the partially uplifted wings and downward head position. Exposure looks good to me. I like the composition also with the full reflection and room on the left for the bird to move into. Well done.

I like the half open wings, Sandy-they add a nice shape to the swan. The whites look very good.

Great positioning in the frame Sandy - White do look exposed reasonably - but if I may be a little critical - a little more detail in the white large wing area ?
