Description
This is from December, 2024. I had a new (used) FujiFilm GFX 100s that I was dying to use. I had previously been out to this site with the Canon R5 and wanted to compare the handling and image quality of the medium format rig against it. This is an HDR capture but I’m trying hard to avoid the “look” of HDR. I do want the rosy look of the light. I’m afraid I like this kind of look. I did use SNS-HDR software because the tonal adjustment range is truly impressive. I tried a B&W version but the tones and textures aren’t enough without the colors.

This is gorgeous!! I wasn’t familiar with SNS-HDR software but it sounds very interesting, and you have great results here. I like the warmer look too and it imbues the scene with a gentle mystery. Well done!!
Beautiful photograph. I love the detail on the hillside and the overall dynamic range you accomplished using the HDR technique is great, it does not look HDRish at all. I like your choice of color balance, as the rosiness make the scene very inviting. Not sure how this compares to the R5, but if you get to keep the GFX 100s I would go with that from now on.
Very nice color and light, certainly a good choice to keep it color. It doesn’t look HDRish to me. I also like the composition looking down the river with the cloud reflection in the water. I’m undecided on the boulder, it does serve as a foreground element but being half out of the image makes it seem a little crowded at thee bottom. The only other little nit is how dark the patch of water is on the far bank, there is nothing else in thee image that dark and I can’t figure out why that is, there seems to be a higher bank a little farther down that doesn’t have as dark a reflection in the water. Regardless, a really fine image!
