The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
I took a class from Arizona Highways in February, 2009. It was a great class with snow in Sedona and a nice sunset as shown here. This is a 12-shot stitch. It was before HDR occurred to me but I did go in and reprocess the frames with Dx0 PL9 since this series of frames was a bit underexposed. I stood there forever (well, for a while) waiting for the clouds to fit around the mountain and this one was the best of the lot.
Specific Feedback
I kept the left hand portion in the image because of the clouds. I have done a 3:1 crop of this photograph that sells okay. I probably could have cropped the right end off a bit more on this one.
Technical Details
Canon 5D Mark II, EF 24-105 @ 60mm, f/11 @ 1/125, ISO 200, tripod-mounted. I did about 50% overlap per frame. I processed in Dx0 PL9, ACR, and Photoshop CC.

I wouldn’t crop anymore from the right. I think it would throw the balance off by pushing the cliffs closer to the edge. I like that you included the clouds on the left. The light is very nice. I do feel the sky is a little over cooked, saturation wise.
Hi Fred,
This was well worth the wait for the clouds to settle in where you wanted them. The warm sunset light on the rock formation is quite nice as are those wonderful clouds in the sky. The pano format also works really well. I know that you like your images saturated; as do many people. Like my brother @Michael_Lowe; I find the blue in the sky is a bit much and I could see it reduced some. Just my opinion of course. Sounds like you had a fun trip.
@Ed_Lowe@Michael_Lowe Thank you for your comments. I always appreciate them. I have knocked the saturation down and lightened the sky a bit. I liked saturation, along with other dramatic features, very much in the beginning. It seemed to be a common point of view and I’ve had difficulty changing mine. I would assume, like music, quieter themes grow on us as we get older. Some of us are more mature artistically earlier in our lives. Unfortunately, I am old but not very mature and I continue to revert.
I meant to comment earlier and got sidetracked – too much good stuff here to keep up with! But I vote for this to be an example of the good stuff! The pano is a great idea to show off the clouds against that striking landscape. I do prefer the colors slightly subdued but it does qualify as an if you’ve got it, flaunt it!! A pleasure to view!
I like the sky much better in this version, a bit more natural looking to my eye. The composition is very nice with various interesting elements filling every part of the image. Well seen, and kudos for the patience, mostly because I have very little…
