FAWN IN THE WOODS

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I had good luck getting some shots of mama and a pair of fawn twins yesterday in our backyard. I was hoping for some poses with both of the kids but they were not cooperating.

Specific Feedback

Is the cropping about right?

Dave, how fortunate you are to live where the deer are free to roam. The forward movement of the fawn adds action to what would otherwise be less interesting if it were standing still. I like the depth of field that diminishes the importance of the background. However, the patches of bright sunshine compete with the fawn. I downloaded it in Photoshop and selected the subject, then darkened the background. I tried a tighter crop to see if it would help focus on the fawn. Cropping is such a personal choice. My version is just a thought. Thanks for sharing this moment with us.

Another cutie here Dave. Are these the same fawns, do you think, or are there several sets of fawns in your woods? I like what @Barbara_Djordjevic has done to bring the focus on the fawn out more and tone down the brightness in the BG.

Nice capture. Dave. Barb’s thoughts s and edit are a good idea
