Final Light

What technical feedback would you like if any?

This was a focus stack with a slightly longer exposure. Any issues?

What do you think about the composition being as centered as it is?

Kyle, the comp. doesn’t feel centered because the stream angles to the right and there are some colored clouds in the upper left. There’s fine eye flow from the bottom along the stream to the glistening peak (partially hidden) and then to the gently glowing clouds. I also like the icicles hanging from the snow.

Hi Kyle,

To answer your questions. The focus stack looks good to me.

I think your comp would feel more centred if you had another image without the clouds on the upper right. The band of trees doesn’t have enough visual weight for me to balance the mountain side and the open sky.

I think the shutter time that you’ve chosen here.

I agree with the other’s comments, focus stack looks good, the composition does not feel too centered (clouds in ULC, the unequal amounts of shoreline left vs. right). A more centered comp would had been if you were a few feet to the right, and the shorelines were more symmetrical left and right, so no I don’t find this too centered.

I like your processing, the hint of light on the snow is well handled, and color/contrast/luminosity looks good to me. The shutter speed you used did a great job with the water too. I am usually a fan of 3:2 aspect rations for verticals, and I think it works okay here. However, some folks might prefer to see a slight crop from the bottom, cutting it off just above the hanging icicles in the LLC. This of course is very much a matter of personal taste. But overall this is strong image, thank for sharing it with us :+1: :+1:
