Taking a walk in March of 2020 with a new prime macro lens I had purchased being stuck at home during the pandemic, I noticed the tree patterns and spacing first, then the shadows. I was thinking black and white would really capture the shadows drama.

Ken, the light flowing in from the upper right and the line of trees looks good. I suggest you try some burning-in of the darker parts of the trees and their shadows to see what you think.
