Frosted Fire Truck

While looking for images to submit to this week’s Weekly Challenge (Frost), I came across this old-time fire truck image from Shaniko, Oregon. It was about 11 degrees with a good wind and lots of moisture in the fog. In Oregon this is called Hoarfrost, derived from the Old English meaning of frost resembling an old man’s beard. There are other terms for similar frost.

Here’s a version in B&W:

Color works for me and a very cool image! In all meanings. All the frosted elements of the engine are great. Excellent all around.

Wow! I love this. I especially like the colour version.

You’ve captured the “feel” of cold. Living in the sub-tropics, “cold” like this is quite unknown to me. The composition is good. I also like the lone frosted tree in the BG.

What a great find and image, David.

Both are great. I do not prefer one over the other. The roads in area of Shaniko must have been a bit slippery!

Wonderful!! Definitely the color one for me – red against snow is hard to beat! The up-close wide angle works very well for this old truck.

Hope you made it home OK!
