Gate Latch

Black and White Rotated

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

At our Camera Club outing to Fort Nisqually last weekend I was fascinated by the ironwork. Hinges and latches were the most visible ones. This was part of a gate latch shot from below to put it against the sky and get a high key look.

Specific Feedback

I processed the color one and boosted the exposure enough to bring out some of the rust detail in the latch. When I’d gone that far, it felt like a rotation and conversion to B&W would make an interesting version and be a bit more abstract. I’m interested in which people find more interesting (if either).

Technical Details

Sony A7Riv, FE 70-200 f/4 “macro” @189 mm, hand held, f/18, 1/80, iso 1000. Processed in LR & PS CC. The horizontal version is uncropped (9504x6336), the vertical has been cropped to 5474x7396.
