Glossy Ibis Coming In

Hi All,

Been away from the forum for bit due to work. Was able to sneak away to a rookery this weekend three hours away, which required a 3 a.m. wake-up call! An exclamation point doesn’t really feel like the right punctuation there, but it’s the best I can do.

The rookery had lots of glossy ibises and night herons, with a smattering of egrets, both great and cattle. Mainly shot ibises and night herons. This was one of the first shots I took. In post, I cropped, ran a levels adjustment, reduced the size, sharpened the bird, reduced noise on the BG, ran a curves adjustment, added a little bit of canvas to the R side, and added a slight vignette. All C&C welcome.

Techs:

500mm f/4, handheld
ISO 1000

This ia very nice in-flight capture of this Ibis, Lyle! Exposure, color and detail are very good and I like the full span of the wings. Since you added some canvas to the right side, it might be a good idea to take a little off the left side so that its clearly entering the frame instead of almost centered.

Great details in this beautiful Ibis, Lyle. Glad you were willing to get up at 3 to get this shot. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Lyle, really nice sharpness on the bird especially when viewed large. Love the fanned tail. This really pops for a brown bird. Agree with taking some off the left. Nice frame.
