The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
A photo from one of Donna’s gardens taken in 2004.
I always found these small, simple flowers attractive and great photo subjects. In this case the flowers were in bright light creating a pleasing contrast with the stem. I accentuated this a bit further in LRC by slightly reducing the BG exposure.
Specific Feedback
This is a crop from both sides into square format. The comp feels right to me - thoughts?

Nice, if somewhat tight, framing here. The whites look ri-i-ight on the edge of clipping, so possibly pull back on those to get a bit more detail. I’ve found that white flowers often have little sheens of iridescence that can be fun to discover. Great job getting as much as you did in the focal plane. Are you still doing macro and/or flower photography? This is such and old image that I wonder if you’re working on a comparison project to gauge you work as a whole. This is something I’ve done now and then just to make sure I’m trying new approaches and techniques - a big one for me was focus stacking.
Yes, though that will begin in earnest once I’m retired this spring. Right now, I’m (re) processing these old files to become more proficient in LRC. I’m looking forward to working with the files from the EOS R6II .
Good call on pulling down the highlights, new version postede above. Thanks!
A beautiful image with perfect depth of field, Jim. I do like the version with pulled down highlights.
When you edit an image and repost it, it’s easier for people to compare if you edit your original post and upload the new image at the top. Just go to the bottom of your original post (just above the comments) and click on the pencil icon to enter the edit mode. Once you’re there, the up arrow in the toolbar at the top of the edit screen will let you upload the new image. You can label it and the original appropriately and make a note in the title that you’ve added a repost.
Jim: Pretty darn good start and the repost is exceptionally nice. My only suggestions are with regard to the crop. I would add just a pinch more room on the right so that the tip of that one bud wasn’t touching the edge of the frame and then I would clone away the partial bud in the URC. The detail in the flower centers and the lighting are spot on. Nicely done. >=))>
