I took this later in the day than my first bridscape posted. The rain had stopped and all was brighter. The bird had returned to the same spot and caught a fish. The mood isn’t as dark in this image and the colors show up more with less noise. I took out some glare in the water in front of the bird.

This works quite well for me. I think it warrants some clockwise rotation and I am tempted to blur even more the leaves on the right edge of the frame. I think it will enhance the depth of the image but that is not always the easiest thing to do neatly.
This does create a whole different mood, Allen. To tell the truth, I prefer the earlier version. For some reason, the light fog in this one looks out of place to my eye-almost like old fashioned fogging of a negative, though I know that’s not the case.
I like this “birdscape”, Allen! Showing the environment that this bird lives in makes it extra special. Good composition also. The large version could maybe use a little extra sharpening. It seems just a bit soft. This site seems to automatically sharpen the small version of the images so that looks fine.
Those trees make a nice picture full stop. Add an egret and it’s even more special. I do agree that the large version looks quite soft though. It could look like that if you’ve uploaded a very large version.
