What an extraordinary bird! One I have never seen before.

You have captured him posing beautiful displaying all his unusual features. The soft blues and yellows of the image are the icing on the cake.

I loved seeing the video of him in your newsletter.

Excellent job on this, Glenn. The snow really helped here. My only encounter with these was on a gloomy spring equinox and the iso’s required on that old 7D2 made for some really interesting processing challenges back then, though I’ve reprocessed some of them with modern software and they’re much better. The reflected light from the snow really makes this image glow.

Great shot! Love the composition and the sharpness of the bird, especially against the snow.

That is one cool looking bird, Glenn. Well done.

wow, what a creature! I like the crispness of the feathers and especially that tail. Excellent low vantage point for maximum engagement. The snow looks good and makes for a nice isolating stage for his display. The bits of grass poking up echo the tail feathers and I like that link. The shadows look a tad too lifted to me given the conditions, but that’s all that looks out of place in such an excellent portrait.

Excellent photo and my only suggestions is to bump up contrast/micro-contrast to put this one over the top. Awesome shot…Jim

Great pose and detail, Glenn. BTW, I enjoy your videos with Jan.
