Here's looking at you

I was looking for birds to photograph in Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge on Oct 19, at 8:00 AM and when I turned the corner this doe was maybe 8ft off the path. I stopped and asked the doe if I could take it photo. Not sure what was going to happen next, I slowly brought up my camera and took this shot. The doe had a fawn with her and as I move a couple of steps to the left, the doe and fawn turned and went into the refuge. I know this is not the best photograph of a deer, I just though it was worth posting because of the experience I had taking the shot.
Thank you for stopping by.
Peter

Is this a composite: No
Canon R5, Canon 100-500mm, F4.5, 123mm, 1/2000. The shot was cropped by 20% an I used the Nik Collection’s Color Efex Pro 4 to add a reflector to bring up the shadows.
