Description
I was not sure about posting this image. But I am learning !!! Can’t compete with the Pros.
I sat on the pond and he landed and i took a few images. I have made several different edits on this image. Im going to keep trying and learning and see how the DeNoise works and just keep shooting…
Specific Feedback
A Little soft and some noise. I did do a lot of vignette to take the BG down some. I actually posterized a version to give a 60s vibe. Not perfect but an improvement.
on to landscape and other style this summer. Thanks to everyone for showing interest and all your helpful information.
Technical Details
Shutter 1000. f9 ISO 800. Edit old school techniques in Photoshop.

Very nice!! Your vision it is surviving the initiation into editing techniques. This is quite worthy of posting with image quality that is fine and still has your unique stamp on it!
Thanks. I am an old film guy for sure. I want to keep it fun and put the Images and Music together. If I do that and someone enjoys the visual and audio, then i feel i connected. Its my success as an artist. Thanks again Diane for all your support and information. and guidance. Peace to our Planet !!!
No competition around here! We all just post our work, as we learn and grow. We all started somewhere with less than ideal images. I’m glad my portfolio here only goes back to 2018 or thereabouts - some of the stuff before that is almost embarrassing
This is a great image!! Definitely has your recognizable style. Always stay true to YOUR vision. A nice dragonfly in a perfect comp, and interesting vignette.
I think this should be in the macro category, though.
Thanks .. I have a style ??? Thats scary. … but thats cool. Maybe a piece of music to go with it. If you can move it to Macro that would be great. I never know where to put anything. We need a category BUGS !!! Ha Ha Thanks for showing interest. Always learning !!!
Gill: I did move this to Macro as I think that is a more appropriate place for bugs. I like this a lot. It’s a simple but effective comp and I especially like how the dragonfly and it’s wings point left while the twig points right. Most of the time you want more space in front of a subject looking out of the frame but this works better as is IMO.
Persistence and experimentation are keys to success. I often quip when folks compliment my images that if you press a shutter button enough times some of them turn out. Fortunately, with digital that experimentation and profligacy with captures doesn’t cost much except time going through all the iterations. Back in the film days that philosophy could get expen$ive! Keep after it, you’re doing great. >=))>
The Film Days. Yes. You really had to have it together to get a good shot. Then the printing. Money Money Money. I spent a fortune in my darkroom. So now it’s easier and more efficient. Plus today’s technology allow us to post our images and vision and meet other photographers. That’s really cool. And post our images to the world. To share and have fun. That’s the goal. Share my images and music to the world. Hopefully someone will find the interest and bring a smile to their face.
Thanks for showing interest in my photography.
Peace to our Planet.
