High, among the clouds

Despite my horrendous carbon footprint, one of the great delights of my career was travelling all over the world by air. I travelled enough to be able to choose my seat, typically on the non-sunny side, and, while I could not guarantee getting a new sheet of glass, I always enjoyed looking out and, when the glass was good, photographing what I saw. Yes, sorry but I was that pain-in-the-butt guy who refused to “lower my shade” so others could watch reruns. Clouds in particular were so often what I enjoyed seeing and photographing, including the long shadows cast upon them and the thick air around them.

I like your title John. I would feel high too, looking at this. That long slanting shadow on the left appears to my eye to be a negative of the sunbeams. I also love the tones - not the usual blue sky but something more subtle.

Thanks, Mike. So much to see from up there.
