Excellent, David. It looks like you managed a pretty low angle and a very nice close shot. I always encounter these at a considerable distance. As you noted, the light is gorgeous and the head turn is very nice. Well done.
Ahhh – the perfect blow-dry!! (Now don’t get it wet!) But a seriously very nice image – I love the tucked-in pose and nice ripples. Perfectly color-matched water and BG. The little floating tail is an extra cute touch – well done!
Thanks Diane. I appreciate it. And I laughed outlaid at the blow-dry reference. ![ ](https://assets.naturephotographers.network/images/emoji/apple/grin.png?v=12)

Thanks Dennis, This was a happenstance encounter at Ridgefield. I was in my car, so lower than normal indeed.

Excellent image; one of the nicer shots of a female hoodie I’ve seen. Great detail and a pleasing environment.
Hi David, really nice look at this merganser. Love the view of the striated beak and full tufted head. Great eye too. well done.
Thanks Allen, I appreciate your comments.

David
