I´m Michael E. Gordon, ask me anything

Hey Preston! It’s great to see you here.

I had not calculated the time, but wow, has it flown. We’re older, maybe not wiser

Recall that I’ve made portraits of you in 4x5! Today I only use the view camera for soft focus plants, particularly with the Wollensak Verito. That look cannot be emulated with DSLR. Because my D850 is such high resolution, and there is no optical loss as there is to scanning, I’d rather use the DSLR than view camera for pure landscape. When I stitch frames together? Yowza. Super clean. And virtually no color correction required, such as there is with most scans. I am a slave to the image, not to the process or tools.

I’m sorry to hear about Chinese Camp. I did some photography there after I left your place years ago. I hope you guys stay safe.

Thank you, Preston! I would love to see you again.

Thanks Michael. That was a very helpful response.

Happy to hear you still use 4x5! I was wracking my poor little brain to recall that lens you used: the Verito. I love the look.

I still have my Cham and other LF gear, but the cost of processing trannies is just bonkers these days, so I shoot digital these days.

The portrait you took of the wife and I is in our album. It is a cherished item from a wonderful day!

The fire is still active and some structures were lost in Chinese camp. It was caused by lightning.

Thank you for being here for AMA. The questions and your replies are very enlightening!

Be Well, my friend,

I still love that Verito portrait of you guys, Preston. I made a portrait of me and the wife on our wedding day using the same.

A couple of photos for you. I loved the funny hats you wore

Chinese Camp. Hope this structure made it.

Be well, friend!
