I'm not Batman!

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Going through old files and deleting lots of clunkers. However, I have been finding a few gems and present this one after a great blue heron landed in the top of a cottonwood tree at the heron rookery. I like the pose with the heron looking over the nearby nests.

Specific Feedback

Do you think that I should add some warmth to the morning sky? I did reduce the cyan quite a bit after applying levels. Thank you.

Technical Details

z9 600mm f4 (1/1250 sec at f8.0, ISO=640) Denoise, Levels, reduction of Cyan saturation, Crop for Comp.

Great pose, Jim. I particularly like the crest with those two thin tufts sticking up. I also like the inclusion of a fair amount of the treetops so it doesn’t look like it’s perched on some lone little branch.

Wonderful!! I love the uniqueness of it and think you could emphasize that by removing the other branches in the corners and just leave the one it is on.

Well, I’m going to break the tie here. I agree with Diane and think you should remove the side branches. So I think that would be the way to go and it’s your move..

Nice catch Jim. Intriguing pose of head and wing. I think the bird is isolated enough with the branches as is.
