The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
My wife’s cone flowers are doing very well this year and the Pine Siskins visit them early every morning for we’re not sure what. I hoped to get some images of the birds on the flowers, but I did my chores first and then it was too late and no birds came so I took a few images of out of focus gardens and a couple of the cone flowers. This one just starting to open intrigued me and it wasn’t until I had it on the computer that I noticed a couple of imperfections (insect induced?).
Specific Feedback
Do the imperfections improve the image or detract from it?
Technical Details
Sony A1 FE 200-600 + 1.4 TC @ 840 mm, f/9, 1/500, iso 3200. Perprocessing in DxO PureRaw 4. The only processing I did in LR or PS was to straighten and crop and add the border.

This is similar to the question I posed with water lilies - imperfections - embrace or avoid? In this case I think going in even closer will make them part of the story and not just incidental.
Imperfections aside, the long stem isn’t serving much purpose, for me. The flower is lovely (artistically and technically) and I’d crop well into it, with something like a horizontal 8x10.
Kinda, Dennis, but I think Diane hit is - the presentation isn’t that compelling. Maybe a 3/4 view from up higher would work. Minimalism is a challenge although it is always appealing, sometimes there just isn’t enough there for longer inspection.
Dennis, I disagree with the idea of cropping this way down. The first image works well as a stately, simple interpretation of the flower. If you want to zoom in on just the flower (which would be an entirely different interpretation), I agree with the idea of shooting higher up as a 3/4 view.
