This is very cool, Steve. I like the contrast between the blowing plumes and the apparent immovability of the leg which is enhanced by the difference in luminosity between the two. I don’t know if there’s any way to do it without messing with the plume filaments crossing it, but I could see bringing up the backlit wing section just a bit more-it just looks like a feature that could use some more emphasis to my eye.

Steve, this is a well composed image. I love how you incorporated a wildlife image and focused in on the form and patterns to create an interesting abstract image. The fine feathers on the right appear like complex spider webs. It may be possible to select the feathers on the lower left with a luminosity mask . That would help create some separation in that area.
