Self Critique

I feel that I captured the atmosphere of trees blowing in a summer breeze. But I’ve been getting negative responses from some quarters and need an objective sounding board.

Creative direction

Looking for that summery feeling of looking up at the trees.

Technical Details

This is built from two ICMs taken with 0.5 sec exposure and two exposure of 0.4 sec holding the camera more or less still. I combined them in Dark blending mode on the computer.

Description

Floating in a boat on a lake among islands with trees. It was a breezy day, and very idyllic.

I think it works really well. I’m not sure I would change a thing, personally.

Hi Madeleine,
what a beautiful abstract image. I really like the painterly look.

That sounds like an interesting technique. Well done!

Thank you, Jens!

Hi Madeleine, this is a wonderful result with the impression of wind. It also looks like a water reflection. I think you have achieved that feeling of looking up at the trees. Your technique sounds quite interesting. I don’t really have any suggestions for improvement. Nice work!

Thank you so much, Alfredo! I’m glad you like it!

Wowza! I am really really liking this! Was just talking to another member about abstract and how others postings is making me want to be more creative and try more techniques. I really love this and think it would be a fabulous large print on a wall. Well done!

I would completely ignore such comments. This is a stunning image and one of the most interesting uses of ICM technique I’ve seen in some time.

I think that this is wonderful and I too wouldn’t change anything about this.
