Indefatigable

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Our cactus just keep on giving me good opportunities. This pair of buds sprouted after the hurricane. Their life cycle is really interesting. The buds sit on the base of the cactus dormant for weeks on end and then suddenly burst forth. They get to this stage in two or three days and once the bud heads get like this they will bloom overnight into full glory in the morning and then fade later in the afternoon. I’ll show the results in my next post. All comments welcome. >=))>

Specific Feedback

I wanted to keep the emphasis on the drop and the bud tips, thus the stack instead of a single capture which I could have pulled off if I was OK with the cactus base being sharper.

An interesting image from an optical point of view, Bill. Viewing the thumbnail, it didn’t much appeal to me because the smallness of the image made the background look more in-focus. The larger image makes the buds dominate completely and the background fades into the background the way a good background should. Interesting behavior, though I would expect a cactus to respond to nice heavy rains in some way.

There is a white something above the base of the right hand bud stem that is a bit of an eye magnet.
