This photo depicts one of many, many Indigo Buntings seen at Fort Morgan, Alabama on the Gulf Coast. To this day, I can not believe how many we saw in a confined area. I was using my car as a blind and they came extremely close to where I was parked. One of the best outings I’ve ever experienced.

Your comments and suggestions mean a great deal to me and I appreciate them all, glowing or otherwise!

Thanks,
Jim

A wonderful job of capturing the incredible color of this bird. Looks like he was fresh out of the bath!

Welcome to NPN and the Avian forum, Jim. You have excellent detail in the Bunting plumage and you caught some of the best blues I’ve ever seen in this species. he shading on the head is wonderful. I also like the larvae that it’s presumably feeding on- it makes me wonder if there was an insect outbreak that drew them in. The crop works pretty well, though I do think a bit more room on the right would be nice. The only other nit I have is I wish he’d given you a slight turn of the head to get a better view of the eye-but you don’t have control of that.

A fine image and I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Thanks Dennis! Well sir, that event happened two different days. I just about wore out the shutter button! LOL

A wide color variety made it even more interesting. I’ll have to post one of the more unusual captures to demonstrate.

Thanks SO much Dennis! Appreciate your feedback MUCH!

Hi Jim,
Nice capture of the feeding action here. The detail in the plumage is terrific and well exposed. Nice that I can see a tiny catchlight in the eye in the larger version. Nits to me are the out of focus vegetation in the foreground intersecting the plants the bird is feeding on but I do know how hard it is to exclude this with this species feeding habits. A pleasing image.

The feather detail and colors in the bird are great, and I love the feeding pose. My only issue is the out of focus vegetation in front of the bird. They are distracting. Of course, the birds (almost) never land where we tell them to!

Wow, great image! Those two bright spots in the foreground are slightly distracting to me, but it’s not a deal breaker, I’m still jealous of this one

You should have been there the day I took that photo. Ft. Morgan, Alabama on Gulf Coast. They were literally there in numbers at this one spot!!! I’ll never forget if I live to be 100. LOL

Even got video!
