Killdeer with reflection

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Saw this killdeer recently at a local park. The morning sun was just starting to affect the color of the water.

Specific Feedback

Any comments appreciated. I tried to pan quickly with this bird given the slow shutter speed (1/500s) for birds in flight.

Technical Details

Canon R7, Sigma 150-600 Contemporary
ISO 2500, f6.3, 1/500s, hand held

Processed in DXO Pure Raw 3 and Photoshop.

This is cool, Allen. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a reflection shot of a Killdeer, let alone one flying. The high Key makes it look even more interesting as it’s not clear that it’s a reflection image until you look more closely.

It’s a beautiful reflection shot, and hand held too! A very minor adjustment I’d suggest: make the spaces between “both” heads and the horizontal borders equal, for symmetry. I also love how there is no visible horizon.

Lovely image. I like the high key processing and as mentioned lack of horizon.

Very cool image, Allen. I like this a lot. Well done.

Very unique and the open beak puts it over the top. I like this one as presented…Jim

Great image Allen, not much to add to all that has been said.
