It was a rare foggy day on the California north coast a couple of weekends ago. This group of trees struck me as a family, with a straggler left behind trying to catch up.
What technical feedback would you like if any? What artistic feedback would you like if any?
Any comments welcome. I thought about cropping out some of the sky, but the trees felt too crowded when I did that.

A perfect setting for the sad skeletons of one of our fires. I love the hint of surviving trees through the fog.

Interesting scene and story. But first, are foggy days really rare on the north coast??
With your story, I can appreciate the family marching off to the left, with one straggler.
Without the story, it is a family portrait with the leftmost tree taking itself and my eye off to the left. I wondered also, why so much white sky and so much atonal brush. I wanted to gradually decrease the exposure of some of the sky and burn in a little texture into the brush which I desaturated a bit, although cropping out some brush is also an option, I think.
Also, I think you have an interesting composition available featuring the crossed trees.

Thanks @Diane_Miller and @Dick_Knudson. Dick, yes, foggy days are a lot rarer than they used to be 30 or 40 years ago. I like your first crop - there’s still enough sky. The tones in your version are lovely, but I was looking to keep some bit of hope in the scene. Hence the brighter brush.
@Bonnie_Lampley Your thought about brightness and hope warmed me. Go for it!
