The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
I don’t know if living in the desert with clear sunny skies makes me more appreciative of clouds but Lenticular ones always grab my attention. The evening the sun going down made it a very special evening.
Specific Feedback
I’m interested if the layers and landscape hold your attention and perks any curiosity in the scene.

Who doesn’t like an awesome display of lennies =)
This is awesome.
Here’s what stands out for me -
I love the balance of the composition - the mountains and the big chunky clouds upper right are a nice compliment to each other. The FG is interesting too with the nice balance created with the smaller cloud at upper left w/ the larger bushes bottom right.
Adhering to the NLPA rules - you left in the manmade stumps which I don’t think are all that distracting really, so bravo there.
But that would be an area you could improve, if you were to scoot up a bit and photograph from the other side of those, however, you might lose those nice bushes in the FG.
The color story is interesting to me as well with the pinks and blues… I enjoy the contrast between those a lot.
Maybe one way to improve the image would be to use an ND filter to smooth out the water some.
Otherwise, I think the image is quite nice. Cheers!
You’ve got to love fascinating clouds when they are catching color like that.
I have two thoughts to play with. First, the image feels tight to me on the left since it is so close to the mountain’s edge. I also don’t find the upper left corner as interesting as the rest of the image, so I’d vote for a tighter crop. Second, I think the shadows could be opened just a tad. Pardon my mucking around with your beautiful image, but here’s what I came up with playing with those ideas.
Wow, what a sky! As Matt stated, I think it’s very well balanced and the colors are rich and saturated, but not overly so. I do think a longer exposure for the water might be nice but certainly not a huge deal. This is lovely.
Hi Matt, thanks so much for your critique on my composition. The clouds grabbed me so much I didn’t even think about the water and a longer exposure. I agree a little more patience and moving myself around could have improved my edges and made a better image.
John, thanks for working my image. I think cropping in some works. I do like the cloud behind the mountain on the left but yes maybe to much sky there, so I’ll work on the left side some.
Brett, thanks for taking time and commenting on my image. I’m guilty of not slowing down and thinking the whole shot thru. Smoothing the water would have been a great idea.
