Fall comes real late to some parts of Texas. This was taken last December at Lost Maples State Park. The color changes there can be pretty spectacular although this past fall it was a bit subdued. I was looking to get a bird’s eye view of the limestone cliffs and the Sabinal River as it meandered by.>=))>

The original capture was a bit flat. Too much saturation boost?
Bill, the view is very good with the scattering of fall colored trees adding context. Similar to the others, I think that some mid-tone burning along the river, especially the upper right would be good. Interesting that it comes so late, in contrast to the fall colors in YNP that often peak in late Sept…
This is a very interesting perspective Bill. I don’t have a drone, but I sure like looking at images taken with them. I think this scene could benefit from some darkening around the edges using an adjustment brush in LR or ACR, creating a vignetting effect. Darkening the green tones could also add a bit of contrast.
Preston: They are altogether different. The Sabine is in East Texas while the Sabinal is in the Hill Country west of San Antonio. The Sabinal is often not much more than a creek but as you might suspect from the limestone canyon walls it can get nasty in a hurry. It was not the big bad guy of the July 4 flood but did get out of its banks in several areas. >=))>
Bill, the repost is nicely improved. I would go a bit further in burning-in the upper part of the river and along the right hand edge, but that’s personal.
Mark: It is so good to have other eyes and minds helping. I appreciate your comments and suggestions a lot. The more I work with this image the more I like it and your ideas have helped me open my eyes to the possibilities. Attempt # 3 posted above. >=))>
