Lurking Alligator

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

This young alligator in South Texas was lurking in the reeds watching for an opportunity for dinner.

Specific Feedback

I put the alligator in the center of the frame and tried to give a bit more space in front of it on th4e bottom. Not sure if this is the strongest composition for this situation.

Technical Details

Canon 5DMiii, f8, 1/2500 sec, iso 5000, 100-400/1.4TC at 560 mm

Great image - definitely tells a story! I like the space in the front. Part of me wants to remove the reeds in front of his face, but that is part of the story too. Iā€™m wondering about the reflections in the water. Could those be toned down a little to be less distracting?

Overall I think it is pretty good as is!

Good suggestions @elizabeth. Thank you for looking and taking the time to consider how to make this better. I will see what I can do with the bright spots on the water.
