The radiating leaves fill the frame nicely. As with your previous image I like how you have used light and shadow to emphasize the main subject. I do find myself wishing for a bit more room on the right hand side of the frame since those leaves are cut off, but maybe you were trying to avoid distracting elements.

Ronald, I love the way the ferns are set against such a deeply shadowed background, and the way the center fern is framed by the other vegetation to the left. Your processing of color, exposure and contrast look right on the money to me. Good eye on your part to see this scene.

With all the deep shadows, and interesting patterns and textures, i think this image would work very well in B&W as well as color.

My suggestion for improvement is that for my taste, there is a lot of dark negative space in the LRC that is not doing much for me. You need some of it to create visual separation on the central fern, but maybe not this much. I would suggest considering cropping this to a square format, which would make the central fern even more dominant in the image. I would do something like this.

I like the light and the radiating leaves. I do like Eds crop suggestion.

I’m just a nut for maiden hair ferns! They are so beautiful and light…any puff of wind and they dance for minutes! This is beautiful and I like the direction Ed is going with the crop, but it feels just a bit cramped to me.
