Misty Sunrise (with texture effect)

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

This image from my archives dates back to the last morning I got to take photos along the Sacramento River in Redding, California, before we moved to Colorado. It was a heavily foggy morning so the original was dull and dreary and colorless. I played with some texture effects and chose this one that gives it the feeling of a picture you might find in an antique shop, and that emphasizes that the sun was trying to burn through the fog behind the trees.

Specific Feedback

Any comments appreciated.

Technical Details

Canon Rebel T1i, 27 mm, ISO 100, f 16, 1/80; the texture effect was called Ghostly Winter Forest, increased contrast slightly

Denise, your “antiquing” fits the scene well. I would suggest a bit of burning-in of the tree tops on the right (for better separation) and wonder about the color shifts in those trees as you go from bottom to top.
