Description

Another oldie, from 2012. I haven’t really done a lot of icons, but they are icons because they offer images of irresistible beauty, so I’ll go for them when I can. The light is rarely the same twice.

Technical Details

This was 3 frames shot a stop apart, and I reprocessed it with the latest Merge to HDR in LR nd got a better result than the original, which was done with Photomatix. Quite a bit of global tonal adjustments and some local ones.

Missed this one. You see so many images shot from this location, but I really like this one. The light on the distant mountains is sublime and they are well framed by the arch. It feels like looking down a telescope.

Thanks, @Chris_Baird – I missed your reply, too! It’s a wonderful but precarious place to shoot from – you’re standing on a large egg with room for maybe 3 overlapped tripods. Hiking boots with very grippy soles are needed.
