Moonrise at the St George Lighthouse

Was supposed to be a super moon…it was okay but there were so many photogs, finding a decent spot to shoot was like being in Arches at sunrise.

Chris, in shots like this it’s a challenge to balance the moon’s light with the surroundings. You’ve done that well here. The subtle color change in the sky is a fine addition. Since the “supermoon” is about 10% larger than a normal full moon, it’s size difference in a 35mm frame is barely noticeable.

I love the composition and the sky color, and the way the gold reflections on the lighthouse match the moon. I wonder about another version where the moon is subdued a bit.

A beautiful and subtle sky. The lighting on the lighthouse railing is really pretty too. I’m glad you put up with a lot of other photographers to get this.
