I’m just curious what you make out of this image I made yesterday. For some reason I’m drawn to manikins.

Image Description

I decided to go for a walk in the morning and came across a window display that included manikins. It was a no go until I converted to b&w because some of the yellows were distracting.

Technical Details

Iphone 13. You can see me holding it in the photo.

An interesting image, Igor. I like the perspective here with the mannequin looking like it’s about twelve feet tall in comparison with the gentleman looking at it. The other interesting aspect is the distortion in the body proportions with the legs toward the center looking much thinner than the outer legs on both the model and the observer. The expression on the man’s face and his posture fit the title.

This made me smile.

I like this very much. It reminds me of a photographer I can’t quite put my finger on, if I remember who I’ll update.

You asked about narratives - I like that the mannequin is looking out and the person in the reflection is looking in and yet they’re both angled quite similarly so there’s a reflection of form on top of the literal reflections. There’s something about the unobtainable.

Or maybe I’m reading too much! Either way, I enjoyed this.

It looks as though the person is behind her but actually is in front of her and facing her. But frankly I don’t find that visual error that interesting. The relationship between him and her is interesting imo because he is real and she is not. He is how people really look and she is an ideal.
