New growth

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Watched 3 whitetails cross the road and started browsing not too far off the road. I had not been able to photograph deer in months, so even though the light was poor I took several pictures at 300mm. This was my first try with this lens to photograph a larger animal.

Specific Feedback

T here was no way I could get the dark tree trunk out of the photo. Cropped it as much as I could. Is it too much of a distraction? Also, are the branches distracting?

Technical Details

Canon R10, Sigma 16-300mm, @ 300mm

1/320 F-7.1 ISO 6400
Hand held from car..

It’s a classic shot of a deer in the forest John, alert and aware …and hiding behind a stick! They always seem to do that.
The tree on the right is still a bit of an issue for me but if you wanted to you could try the amazing Generative Fill in PhotoShop if you have it. That would sort it out. It could probably do the stick as well.
How about taking some of the vibrate of the green foliage down a tad.
Good luck with it.

Thank you for your comments. I will try Fill. I didn’t think of it.
