No Bell Required

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Snapped in Bologna with just my phone, I captured this wonderful gentleman and his barking buddy. There was no need for a bell; the dog’s cheerful bark were their signal. Together, they wove their way through the city, as much a part of it as the cobblestones.

Any feedback welcome

I happened to be looking through some of the “everything else” images and stopped to look at this one. I am so surprised to find that it received no comments. I think it is a wonderful image. It has a great story with the character of the bicycle rider and his dog front and centre. What takes this photograph to another level is the man walking the other way, which balances the image in so many ways. The b&w conversion is excellent - great tone, contrast, and detail. Lovely mood overall. Really well done.

Thanks, Kerry. I really appreciate you taking a look at it. It’s one of my favorite images and brings back memories of Bologna. It just typifies life in that city.

LOL! This is terrific! Love the face of the gentleman, and the alert expression of the
“bell”, who is clearly taking his job seriously. The cobblestones and old buildings add a lot of interest.
Personally, I’d lose the passerby., and extend the image on the left, if possible.
Excellent portrait!
