This was back in March of 2018 when I first started photography. I was on my favorite hike (Breakneck Ridge) and spotted this woodpecker through the trees.

I am really enjoying this one. The DOF looks ideal and the woodpecker shines within his environment. The thick branches provide a kind of tunnel into him.
A fine entry for this week’s Challenge, Vanessa. I’ve often wondered why most woodpeckers are so brightly colored considering their normal habitat. They really stand out. Nice find and capture.
