Oncoming

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I was standing on this country road, late afternoon, and felt the contrast between the richness of the trees on one side, and the sparseness of the poles (formerly trees) on the other, with both converging in the distance. Then the oncoming car appeared, traveling between the two. The scene makes me think of humanity on a path between nature and technology, some feeling of dread.

Specific Feedback

Not a “pretty” picture, more conceptual I guess. Wondering what people think about the subject and composition? Is it interesting? Too conceptual? Any other feedback would be appreciated.

Michael, the juxtaposed multiple sets of parallel lines in this view work together well, the tree trunks vs poles and then the road with its lines. The road looks wet, which adds nicely. I do see some subtle shadowing around the poles and a slight halo along the top of the trees. These halos are likely to be from pushing the Clarity slider. I’ve seen some excellent photos where the power lines/telephone poles are a critical element. This view fits that bill, telling a good country road story.

Thanks Mark, glad you like the image overall. Good reminder foto war me to watch out for that clarity slider and the halos.
