Diane, I am also unfortunately late to this image, as I have been in new printer land. I dont really have much to add to make it any “better” as I love it and am a sucker for simple compositions of trees in fog. I tired cropping out the sky but didnt like it as much. Since i have been focusing on printing, I think this would be really nice printed on a nice matte paper and on your or someone’s wall.

Diane, I suppose one could call this a “frown” Christmas, combing fog and brown.
While both of your shots are superb, I prefer the first one. It conveys the wonderful foggy, low contrast mood you have captured so well. And the colors peek through just enough. I do not think the image is too flat at all. You’d lose some of the foggy mood if you upped the contrast.
