Oregon Oak

Oregon Oaks are not known for their fall color. However, the right tree in the right place at the right time can have its own celebration of fall.

Hi Don,

While I enjoy the subject matter of this scene–beautiful yellow, orange, and red leaves on mossy maple trees–I feel like the lighting isn’t very complementary. The harshness of the light feels too intense for this scene. Softer lighting would have suited it better by not creating such strong contrast. I also feel like the trunks don’t quite show enough in order to give some structure here. There are just bits and pieces everywhere so it feels a little messy. I would have tried to find a patch or perspective where they were more exposed so you could compose around them. That is sort of always the case with tree scenes.

Hope this is helpful!

Eric
