I’m almost embaressed to post this. I only had a 80-400 lens with my camera so I took this with an iPhone 8. Slight crop from the bottom. This national monument is seldom visited by most since it is so far out of the way, but if you get the chance, go there and take the Ajo Mountain loop road around sunset for some of the most stunning scenery you can imagine.
Hey Skip,
Had you not mentioned a cell phone camera, it wouldn’t have crossed my mind! Came out great!
I like the light throughout and especially the low angle and warm light repeated up front and in the bg mountains.
No real criticism here or suggestion. Perhaps maybe just going all the way to square by taking a little more sky off the top. The URC is a little empty, but that’s not a big deal really.
thanks for posting!

Never heard of Organ Pipes National Monument, but he subject cactus certainly is well named. I am still amazed at what the new cell phones can achieve. photographically. I like the light on the cactus and the “groundscape” around the main subject. I am bothered by the far left cacti branch encroaching on the middle cliff though, sometimes not so easy to see through the camera. A step or two to the left would have been better, giving the two peaks their own space. Thanks for sharing the image.
