Description

This otter was diving into the water and popping up through a hole in the ice. The otter seems to be threatening all the photographers which are all a long ways away.

Shot at 1/1000 sec, f8, 500ISO at 800 MM. It was then edited in Lightroom and cropped from 7008x4672 to 2010x1608.

I really like the image but I don’t think it needed a spotlight effect.

I agree about the spotlight and it didn’t seem so obvious in Lightroom. I will check this in the future when I export the file. Thanks for the feedback

Nice capture from that distance! Otters can be so difficult to shoot. Ditto on the lighting.

I really like the textures of wet fur, you may go more horizontal.

Wow, nice pose that you’ve caught here Phil. He looks very PO’d! Love the detail in his fur and the surrounding ice speaks to the challenges of his environment. I like the crop; others have spoken abouit the halo; just a couple of bright dots in his fur I’d fix. Wonderful capture overall!

Thank you. The white spots are ice but would be easy to remove as I can see they are distracting.
