This is pretty amazing. We had a solar eclipse, actually a partial solar eclipse . I had all my telescopes and cameras set up on the deck . Somewhere near the extremes of the eclipse at least as far as it was going for a partial eclipse , I looked on the steps of the deck and saw this image. It was just there .

Yeah, a partial eclipse (best if it’s a deep partial, almost total) does this – tiny points of light coming through trees show the crescent shape, like a pinhole camera. Cool capture!!
(This was a spectacular total, with a very lovely corona shape when captured with HDR processing.)
David, I’ve too have used tree leaves as multiple pinhole cameras to view an eclipse. It’s good fun. You’ve, got a fine collection of sun images here.
Wonderful! I never knew about this phenomenon. I’ll have to look for it in the future.
Partials are easier to come by than totals. Mark your calendar for Jan 20, 2029, max about 8:40 am in the PNW. The sun will be about 3/4 covered. The next total visible in the US is in 2033 (if you are in Alaska) and 2044, with a better one (wider visibility) in 2045.
Very cool David! I especially like that you took the time and thought to compose this with the diagonals. Well done, great way to document an eclipse!
